According to court records, on July 26, 2024, Nelson was involved in an incident at Hugo’s on South Washington Street in Grand Forks. Officers responded to a call about an unwanted subject, and Nelson admitted to shoplifting $21.80 worth of groceries, which she had concealed in her purse.
Nelson’s charge has been elevated to a felony theft of property due to having four or more theft offenses within the past four years, making this a felony-level charge under North Dakota law.
