Grand Forks Woman Faces Felony Theft Charge
GRAND FORKS, GRAND FORKS COUNTY (trfnews.i234.me) — A Grand Forks woman is now facing a felony theft charge after her latest shoplifting arrest.
According to court documents, on September 23, police were dispatched to the Target store in Grand Forks. Store employees reported detaining a woman accused of attempting to steal merchandise.
The suspect, identified as Samantha J. Demarais, allegedly tried to take about $30 worth of skin care products and pens. The incident was captured on store surveillance video.
Authorities say this is Demarais’s fourth shoplifting offense in the past four years. Because of her prior convictions, the charge has been elevated to felony theft of property under North Dakota law.
Demarais was taken into custody. No further details have been released about her initial court appearance or potential sentencing if convicted.
