Grand Forks (trfnews.i234.me) – A Grand Forks woman is facing multiple felony and misdemeanor charges following a violent domestic incident on August 17.
Breanna R. Huff was arrested after police say she assaulted a man during an altercation. According to court documents, Huff allegedly bit the victim on the arm, slapped him, and then chased him with a knife inside the residence.
The victim attempted to call 911 during the incident, but Huff reportedly tried to interfere with the emergency call. When officers arrived, they discovered Huff was also in violation of an active protection order that barred her from contact with the victim.
She was taken into custody and charged with terrorizing, interference with an emergency call, false information to law enforcement, violation of a protection order, and domestic violence.
Court records indicate Huff gave officers false details during the arrest. Despite the severity of the allegations, the victim declined immediate medical treatment for the injuries.
Domestic violence cases remain a serious concern in North Dakota. According to the North Dakota Council on Abused Women’s Services, law enforcement agencies across the state respond to thousands of domestic-related calls each year. Protection orders are designed to prevent escalation, but violations often lead to more severe criminal charges.
Huff remains in custody pending her next court appearance. If convicted, she could face significant jail time and fines, along with possible restrictions on future contact with the victim.
The case is ongoing, and prosecutors are expected to file additional documents as the legal process continues.
