good morning and welcome to und weather update my name is lauren larson right now in grand forks it is eight degrees and winds out of the west northwest at 19 miles an hour taking a look at those headlines our temperatures will be dropping as we go throughout the day today and they will be dropping as we go into this weekend it is going to be really cold and windy this weekend and into next week and we also have a wind chill watch here in grand forks looking at that temperature change we’ve dropped 16 degrees since this time yesterday and it’s just gonna keep going 17 degree change in fargo 22 degree change in aberdeen and bismarck and a 27 degree drop from this time yesterday in minot north dakota taking a look at those national temperatures 34 in chicago and kansas city right now out west 15 in rapid city and 24 in great falls and taking a look at the east coast 32 degrees in both washington dc and boston as they start off their day looking closer in our region 22 right now in brainerd and 26 in duluth and 25 in minneapolis much warmer in minnesota it’s gonna get a lot colder as we move further to the west four degrees in bismarck and one degree in minot right now looking at those winds 19 mile an hour wind right now in grand forks and fargo 21 to 21 miles an hour in marshall and aberdeen and 11 miles an hour in bismarck those winds are going to drop those wind chill temperatures down to negative 11 in grand forks negative 14 in fargo negative 12 in bismarck and negative 13 degree wind chill in aberdeen taking a look at the future cast we have this winter weather system moving through minnesota into wisconsin right now dumping a lot a significant amount of snow onto minneapolis overnight and into this morning that’s going to clear off to the east as we go throughout the day today and tomorrow bringing clouds to grand fork or to much of northern minnesota and grand forks tomorrow clearing out overnight on friday and it’s going to leave us with clear skies and colder temperatures this weekend looking at our forecast for grand forks here today 12 degrees is the high in grand forks today but the temperature will be dropping more as we go throughout the day we had some flurries this morning leading to drifting snow later today that’s going to be possible winds out of the northwest at 20 miles an hour gusting up to 30. looking at our region the high is also 12 in fargo 17 in both marshall and aberdeen 14 in bismarck north dakota as the high today much warmer into minnesota we’re going to see 28 degrees as the high in minneapolis and 27 in duluth today overnight tonight zero in both grand forks and fargo four degrees in marshall and aberdeen and two degrees overnight tonight in bismarck tomorrow here in grand forks we can expect a high of 5 degrees it’s going to be cold and it’s just going to keep getting colder as we go into the weekend blowing snow is possible again tomorrow and winds out of the northwest at 15 20 15 to 20 miles an hour gusting up to 30. and taking a look at those next seven days we’re going to see those temperatures really drop off as we go into this weekend and the beginning part of next week with those highs below zero and overnight lows colder than negative 20 and we’re it’s not going to get much warmer as we look to the middle of next week thank you for tuning in to und weather update my name is lauren larson
