GRAND FORKS, ND (trfnews.i234.me) Your Thursday evening UND Weather Update from Atmospheric Sciences in Grand Forks.
good evening and welcome to und’s weather update my name is dylan vogt we’ve had quite a bit of improvements as we’ve gone throughout the past couple of weeks we’ve had plenty of rainfall to the drought monitor take a look at the southern half of the viewing area a lot of them in the dry to moderate stage which is that yellow tutan stage has quite a bit of an improvement for what it was earlier this summer northern half of the viewing area we do still have the exceptional drought in north central minnesota and north central north dakota but you can see here in the red river valley grand forks in fargo a lot of that has improved to the severe drought so we are getting better slowly but surely right now we have some mostly cloudy skies temperature at 73 degrees wind out light on the south at seven miles per hour take a look at those 80s out to the west 83 in minot 82 in bismarck 88 in rampant city those are the temperatures that are on our way as they go into tomorrow afternoon even have a few 60s on the map left in northern minnesota 68 in bemidji 64 in international falls high pressure system keeping us dry for the most part in temperatures relatively mild in the 70s or this afternoon here’s that cold front that passed through earlier this week that is going to be pushing off into the atlantic ocean where larry currently is hurricane larry we also have a tropical depression mindy that has pushed developed last night and then pushed over florida as they’ve gone throughout overnight last night into this afternoon there are a few showers in the northern half of the valley here however most of us will be staying dry as we go into the evening a nice afternoon if you can dodge a few of those showers throughout the evening tonight a very warm friday is ahead temperatures in the mid to upper 80s and then we have some cooler temps as we go ahead and look at the seven day forecast so let’s break this down starting off with this afternoon going into this evening cloudy skies in northern minnesota but those will give way to clear skies overnight a southerly wind will slowly be increasing not really going to be strong but it will be bringing some much warmer temperatures as we go into friday afternoon waking up tomorrow that southerly wind will be continuing and temperatures tomorrow afternoon anywhere from the mid to upper 80s late friday a cold front will try and sweep through the region and that will mainly drop our temperatures but it could spark a few showers or thunderstorms late friday into saturday although it’s not looking overly likely there is going to be that chance as we go into early saturday morning tonight temperature 53 degrees there could be some patchy fog in some isolated areas cool evening winds out of the south southeast at 5 to 10 miles per hour temperatures across the region a lot of 50s a few 40s up to the north 48 in international falls 53 in fargo 55 in marshall tomorrow a big warm up temperatures in the upper 80s and this could be last upper 80 we see until next summer big warm up there are a few thundershowers possible late in the day winds of the east southeast at 10 to 20 miles per hour take a look at the region we have some mid to upper 90s on the map 97 in pier 97 in rapid city 93 in bismarck 87 here in forks and fargo 79 in international falls finally for the seven day forecast starting off nice and warm as we go into tomorrow but a cold front will be passing through friday night into saturday dropping those temperatures into the upper 60s for the weekend looks like there might be a system moving on through on monday we’ll update you that as we go throughout the day tomorrow and as we go into the middle of next week temperatures in the low to mid 70s
