Grand Forks man to serve 15 years for gross sexual imposition, child abuse

GRAND FORKS, ND (trfnews.i234.me) – A Grand Forks man, Marcus Arlo Hoffmann, 33, was sentenced on Thursday, August 15, to 20 years in prison, with five years suspended, for committing Class A felony gross sexual imposition and Class C felony child abuse.

The case began in early September 2023 when Hoffmann was reported for assaulting a juvenile, causing a bloody nose. The child revealed that this wasn’t the first time Hoffmann had struck them. Later that month, an 8-year-old girl disclosed that Hoffmann had been inappropriately touching her from the age of 4 to 7. During an interview with law enforcement, Hoffmann admitted to the actions, attributing them to blackouts from excessive drinking.

Hoffmann, who pleaded guilty to the charges in March, has 276 days of credit for time served. As part of his sentence, he must register as a sex offender, possibly undergo sex offender treatment, and complete evaluations, including mental health and anger management. Upon release, he will be on supervised probation for five years.
