Grand Forks, ND (trfnews.i234.me) – A Grand Forks man has been sentenced in a disturbing child sex abuse material case after authorities discovered explicit images of children as young as 4 years old on his cellphone, according to court records.

Danny Lane, 59, pleaded guilty on July 14 to 10 counts of possession of certain materials prohibited.

Sentencing Details:

  • Five years in jail

  • Three years of supervised probation following release

  • Mandatory sex offender registration

Investigation Timeline:

  • In October 2023, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) tipped off the North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) regarding suspected child sexual abuse content uploaded via the Kik Messenger app.

  • The IP address was traced to Lane, and a search warrant was executed on June 25, 2024.

  • Law enforcement seized multiple electronic devices, including a cell phone that contained ten explicit images, mostly involving children between the ages of 4 and 10. One image, court documents say, depicted an infant.

Lane was initially arrested in August 2024, and court records show he was also charged with failure to appear after release in connection with this case.
