POLK COUNTY, MN (trfnews.i234.me) – Ruben Silva, 32, from Grand Forks, waived his omnibus hearing on Thursday, August 1, and pleaded not guilty to felony second-degree sale of a controlled substance in a Polk County prohibited zone. Silva faces a potential maximum sentence of 25 years, although state sentencing guidelines suggest a range of four to nine years.

The charges stem from an investigation by Crookston police, who suspected Silva of dealing methamphetamine and fentanyl. During a search of his residence, authorities found drug paraphernalia, two suspected fentanyl pills, methamphetamine residue, a digital scale, fake urine, two pay/owe ledgers, and four cell phones.

Silva was arrested in April, with his bond set at $50,000 cash or surety. He remains in custody at the Northwest Regional Corrections Center. Silva’s pre-trial hearing is scheduled for September 10 at 9 a.m.
