POLK COUNTY, MN (trfnews.i234.me) – Jacob Gabriel Brunelle, 28, of Grand Forks, pleaded guilty on Friday, Aug. 9, to second-degree drug sales in Polk County. Initially charged with conspiracy to commit a first-degree controlled substance sale, Brunelle’s charges were reduced as part of a plea deal. While the crime carries a potential 25-year maximum sentence, state guidelines suggest a sentence ranging from four to nine years, depending on his criminal record.
Brunelle also admitted guilt to driving while impaired by a controlled substance, though he continues to deny a third-degree drug sale charge, which is expected to be dropped as part of the agreement. Brunelle’s arrest was linked to suspected fentanyl distribution in 2022. His sentencing is scheduled for Aug. 20.
