Grand Forks (trfnews.i234.me) — A Grand Forks man has been sentenced to 40 years in prison for crimes involving children.
Marshawn Howard Wooten, 30, was sentenced on Wednesday, May 6. Court records say the case involved 15 crimes against children. Nearly all of the charges were sexual in nature.
Wooten had already been sentenced in December to 20 years in prison. That sentence was for Class AA felony gross sexual imposition. Court documents say he was charged in that case with raping a 14-year-old girl.
Second Case Brings More Charges
In a second case, Wooten faced several more charges. He pleaded guilty to 12 counts of Class AA felony gross sexual imposition.
He also pleaded guilty to Class B felony luring minors by computer. Other charges included Class C felony possession of prohibited materials. He also pleaded guilty to a Class A misdemeanor contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Court documents say the second case involved a different 14-year-old girl. The documents say Wooten had sexual contact with her more than once.
The documents also say Wooten had sexual video footage of the girl. Prosecutors said he contacted her through Snapchat to seek sexual acts.
Authorities also said Wooten gave alcohol to the girl and her friends.
Sentence And Conditions
Wooten was sentenced to 40 years with the North Dakota Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation.
The new sentence will run concurrently with his earlier sentence. That means Wooten’s total prison sentence remains 40 years.
He was given credit for 335 days already served.
After prison, Wooten must serve 10 years of supervised probation. He must also register as a sexual offender.
Court records say he may not have contact with the four juvenile victims.
More court information is available through the North Dakota Court System.
