Grand Forks Man Faces Multiple Drug Charges After Significant Methamphetamine Seizure

GRAND FORKS, ND (trfnews.i234.me) — On December 16, 2024, Douglas Allen Austreng, a 61-year-old resident of Grand Forks, waived his preliminary hearing and entered a plea of not guilty to several drug-related charges. The charges include:

  • Class A Felony: Possession of at least 50 grams of methamphetamine with intent to deliver.
  • Class B Felony: Possession of a Schedule I hallucinogenic substance with intent to deliver.
  • Class A Misdemeanor: Cocaine possession.
  • Class B Misdemeanor: Marijuana possession.

The Class A felony charge carries a maximum sentence of 20 years imprisonment.

In late October, the Grand Forks Narcotics Task Force executed a search warrant at Austreng’s residence. According to court documents, the search resulted in the seizure of:

  • Approximately 1,001.4 grams of methamphetamine (including packaging).
  • 30.23 grams of psilocybin mushrooms.
  • 0.82 grams of cocaine.
  • 48.7 grams of marijuana.
  • $3,844 in U.S. currency.
  • A digital scale and designer baggies.

Austreng’s final dispositional conference is scheduled for March 13, 2025, at 1:30 p.m.
