POLK COUNTY, MN (trfnews.i234.me) – Benjamin John Steinberger, 49, is facing three drug-related charges after a Polk County deputy found cocaine and methamphetamine inside his motorcycle. Steinberger has been charged with first-degree methamphetamine sales, second-degree cocaine possession, and misdemeanor fourth-degree driving while impaired by a controlled substance.
On July 23, Steinberger was pulled over in Crookston for driving the wrong way on a one-way street. The deputy suspected Steinberger was under the influence of a controlled substance and arrested him after field sobriety tests. During the stop, the deputy discovered $1,474 in cash and multiple drug-related items in Steinberger’s motorcycle.
Law enforcement found four Ziploc bags containing a crystalline substance (methamphetamine) and a Tupperware container with a white powdery substance (cocaine). The methamphetamine weighed about 40 grams, and the cocaine weighed approximately 6.4 grams. The quantity of methamphetamine and the drug paraphernalia suggested an intent to sell rather than personal use.
Steinberger tested positive for cocaine, methamphetamine, amphetamine, and THC. His bond was set at $100,000, which he posted on July 31. Steinberger’s next court date is set for September 17.
