GRAND FORKS COUNTY (trfnews.i234.me) — A Grand Forks man wanted on a felony warrant is facing additional criminal charges after attempting to flee from law enforcement officers.

According to court documents, on October 6, an officer conducting surveillance saw Antonio J. Givens getting out of a vehicle in the parking lot of 813 Lewis Boulevard in Grand Forks. Givens was wanted on a felony warrant out of Hennepin County, Minnesota.

When officers approached, Givens reportedly ran into an apartment building and slammed the door of a third-floor apartment. Police say he refused to come out, leading officers to obtain a search warrant.

Once the warrant was in place, law enforcement began breaching the apartment door. Givens then exited the unit and was taken into custody without further incident.

He now faces new charges of felony prevention arrest and misdemeanor refusal to halt. These charges come in addition to his existing felony warrant from Minnesota.

The case remains under review by prosecutors. Preventing arrest under North Dakota law is considered a serious offense that can result in prison time and fines. For more details on state criminal statutes, visit North Dakota Century Code §12.1-08-02.
