EAST GRAND FORKS, MN (trfnews.i234.me) – Marko Ruot, 43, appeared in court on Tuesday, May 28, for a shooting incident over the weekend.

Ruot is accused of firing a gun inside his girlfriend’s apartment at Brentwood Estates on Sunday morning. The incident occurred after Ruot, allegedly intoxicated at 9 a.m., argued with her brother.

A SWAT team arrested Ruot after he refused to leave his Grand Forks apartment. According to East Grand Forks Police Chief Mike Hedlund, “There is mixed information on where the shot went, but it’s not believed he was aiming at anyone.”

The judge refused to extradite Ruot to Minnesota because he is scheduled to stand trial next month in Grand Forks for child abuse. In that case, Ruot is accused of holding down a 14-year-old girl known to him while he took off her pants.
