Grand Forks Man Faces Attempted Murder Charges After Altercation Turns Violent

GRAND FORKS, ND (trfnews.i234.me) – Alexander Antonio Thompson, 27, faces serious charges after a workplace altercation in April escalated to attempted murder. Thompson waived his preliminary hearing on Monday, June 3, and pleaded not guilty to Class A felony attempted murder and two counts of Class C felony aggravated assault.

If convicted, Thompson could be sentenced to up to 20 years in prison for the attempted murder charge.

According to court documents, Thompson engaged in a physical altercation with his coworker, during which he allegedly choked the man and then used an electrical extension cord to further assault him. Witnesses reported that the victim lost consciousness during the attack.

Thompson’s final dispositional conference is set for 1:30 p.m. on August 29.
