Grand Forks Man Faces 10-Year Sentence After Pleading Guilty to Multiple Felony Child Sex Crimes

GRAND FORKS, ND (trfnews.i234.me) – Sebastain Vennie Hipsak, a 23-year-old from Grand Forks, has agreed to plead guilty to four felony charges related to sexual offenses involving two minors. The charges include Class B felony luring minors by computer, Class C felony solicitation of a minor, Class C felony corruption of a minor, and Class C felony possession of prohibited materials.

A proposed plea deal includes the dismissal of Hipsak’s most severe charge, Class A felony promoting or directing an obscene sexual performance by a minor, which carries a potential 20-year sentence.

The case began in February when Hipsak contacted local authorities, expressing concern over his sexual thoughts about minors. Investigations revealed that Hipsak had pursued a 12-year-old boy for sexual acts and had been engaged in sexual activity with his 17-year-old girlfriend, with whom he has two children.

Under the plea agreement, Hipsak is expected to receive a 10-year sentence at the North Dakota Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation for the Class B felony. The agreement also recommends suspending 15 years for the three Class C felonies, with Hipsak serving five years of supervised probation after his release. He will also be required to register as a sex offender, complete sex offender treatment, and avoid any contact with the victims or other minors.

Sentencing is scheduled for December 9 at 10:30 a.m.
