Grand Forks Man Charged After Threats To Shoot Two Women
GRAND FORKS, N.D. (trfnews.i234.me) — A Grand Forks man is facing serious charges after allegedly threatening to shoot two women during a series of phone calls. According to court records, Marquis King of Grand Forks has been charged with two felony counts of Terrorizing.
Authorities say the incident began around 6:30 p.m. Friday when King’s ex-girlfriend contacted police, claiming he had threatened to kill her and “touch everyone around her,” a phrase she said meant he would shoot those near her. The woman told officers that King made the threats over the phone and that she feared for her life.
In addition to threatening his ex-girlfriend, King allegedly threatened to shoot another woman who works at a local restaurant. The first victim told police that King has access to firearms and has made violent threats before. Investigators later located King at a residence on 1323 University Avenue, where he was taken into custody without incident.
During questioning, King told officers the situation was just an argument with his girlfriend and denied making any threats. However, the victim told police she had recordings of the call that captured the threats, which were submitted as evidence.
King remains in custody as the case proceeds. If convicted, each felony terrorizing charge carries significant prison time under North Dakota law.
