GRAND FORKS COUNTY (trfnews.i234.me) – A Grand Forks man is facing a felony terrorizing domestic violence charge after a late-night argument with his roommate that started over cooking food.

According to court documents, Johnny Harris Jr. of Grand Forks became angry Sunday after his roommate’s microwave cooking woke him up. The roommate told officers that Harris became agitated and threatened to punch him during the confrontation.

Police were called to the residence, where they found the roommate visibly shaking and fearful, according to the criminal complaint. Officers determined the threats were credible and arrested Harris on the scene.

Harris is now charged with felony terrorizing domestic violence, a serious offense under North Dakota law that can carry significant prison time if convicted.

No physical assault occurred, but authorities say verbal threats that cause fear of harm can qualify as terrorizing behavior under state statutes.

The case remains under review by the Grand Forks County State’s Attorney’s Office, and a preliminary hearing will be scheduled in the coming weeks.
