Grand Forks Man Charged After Alleged Strangulation and Window Assault of Woman

Grand Forks County (trfnews.i234.me)Jared Allen Schmidt of Grand Forks is facing multiple criminal charges following an alleged assault on a woman.

According to court documents, on April 10th, a Grand Forks police officer reported that the female victim had red marks on her neck consistent with being strangled. The victim stated that Schmidt had grabbed her by the neck and smashed her head into a window, breaking it. She further stated that after the incident, Schmidt said, “I shouldn’t have done that,” packed his bag, and left.

Schmidt is now charged with felony aggravated assault, misdemeanor criminal mischief, and criminal trespass.
