GRAND FORKS, N.D. (trfnews.i234.me) ā A Grand Forks man is facing multiple charges after allegedly fighting with officers during a downtown confrontation on Sunday, August 17, 2025.
According to court documents, police served 48-year-old Clint Smith with a Notice Against Trespass from the Northlands Rescue Mission at the intersection of Kittson Avenue and South 5th Street around 5:49 p.m.
Officers say Smith reacted by yelling obscenities and making obscene gestures. When approached, Smith allegedly lunged toward one of the officers and took a fighting stance. Backup was requested as the situation escalated.
Smith then walked away, continuing to shout. Officers later reapproached him in the 400 block of Demers Avenue. When they attempted to arrest him, Smith allegedly pulled back and resisted, leading to a physical struggle.
Police say Smith fought with them before being taken to the ground using a takedown maneuver. After being restrained, Smith reportedly threatened officers, saying: āIām going to kill all of you.ā
Once booked into the Grand Forks Correctional Center, Smith allegedly made a hand gesture simulating a gun and pretended to shoot an officer.
Smith is now charged with terrorizing, disorderly conduct, and resisting arrest.
