Grand Forks ( trfnews.i234.me ) — Punch and Run Arrest Early Sunday Morning

Police in Grand Forks made an arrest early Sunday morning following a brief foot chase downtown. According to authorities, the incident happened around 2:27 a.m. in the 100 block of North 3rd Street.

Officers arrived at the scene just as the suspect allegedly punched another person in the head. The man then took off running as police pulled up, but was caught and taken into custody shortly after.

According to Sergeant Drees of the Grand Forks Police Department, the suspect was charged with misdemeanor refusal to halt. After officers returned to speak with the victim, the individual said they did not wish to pursue assault charges.

As a result, the case remains a single misdemeanor offense. Authorities note that minor assault and disturbance calls are common during late-night weekend hours in downtown Grand Forks.

Police say no further details or charges are expected in this case.
