GRAND FORKS COUNTY (trfnews.i234.me)A Grand Forks teenager, Mason Wyatt Allery, 17, has been charged with multiple felony counts, including five counts of attempted murder, following a shooting incident on January 3 near a local hotel.

According to court documents, Allery and his co-defendant, Walker Michael Poitra, 18, are accused of firing multiple rounds at a vehicle occupied by five minors, resulting in non-life-threatening injuries to two individuals.

Both Allery and Poitra face 13 charges: five counts of Class A felony attempted murder of a child, five counts of Class C felony reckless endangerment showing extreme indifference, one count of Class C felony terrorizing a child, and two Class A misdemeanors for criminal mischief and unlawful possession of a handgun by a minor.

Initially filed in juvenile court, the cases were transferred to adult criminal court in March.

Allery waived his preliminary hearing on May 5 and pleaded not guilty to all charges. His next court appearance is scheduled for July 31.

Poitra remains in custody with a $1 million bond and is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on June 20.

The incident began when Grand Forks police responded to a report of suspicious activity at a hotel on North 47th Street. A female victim reported that Allery showed her a handgun and displayed bullets to prove it was real.

Approximately 20 minutes later, police were dispatched to the 1000 block of North 42nd Street for reports of gunshots. Officers located and apprehended Allery and Poitra in the vicinity. A teal Taurus 9mm handgun was found near the area where Allery was apprehended.
