Grand Forks ( trfnews.i234.me ) A quiet Wednesday evening turned tense on Oak Street after a pickup truck suddenly burst into flames in a residential driveway. The incident happened outside a home in the 1100 block of Oak Street in Grand Forks. According to the battalion chief on scene, the pickup’s owner had just arrived home from work and went inside the house. Shortly afterward, the vehicle caught fire in the driveway.

Firefighters responded and quickly put out the blaze. The flames were contained to the pickup and the side of the nearby home. Some exterior siding on the house was damaged, but the fire did not spread into the living area.

There were no injuries reported. The homeowner and anyone inside the residence were able to stay safe while crews worked the scene.

Investigators say the exact cause of the pickup fire is unknown. With no clear source identified, the cause will be listed as undetermined. Vehicle fires can start from several issues, including electrical problems, mechanical failures, or fuel system leaks. In this case, officials did not see anything obvious that pointed to a specific cause.

Residents are reminded to move away from a vehicle if smoke or flames are seen, call 911 immediately, and avoid opening the hood, which can feed a fire with more oxygen. For general guidance on vehicle fire safety, drivers can review tips from national fire safety organizations such as the National Fire Protection Association and local fire departments.

Despite the dramatic scene and visible damage to the pickup and siding, this incident ended without injuries, and the home remained livable following the fire.
