Grand Forks County (trfnews.i234.me) — A terrifying domestic violence case in Grand Forks County has ended with James William Laducer Jr. sentenced to 5 years in prison under a plea deal for charges including endangering by fire, domestic violence-bodily injury, and preventing arrest.

The shocking incident took place last October when police were called to 631 4th Avenue South at 10:17 p.m. for a domestic disturbance. The situation quickly escalated as Laducer assaulted his girlfriend, Clara Falcon, and then ignited various objects inside the residence, sparking a dangerous fire while two young children were also inside.

Laducer attempted to escape by jumping from a second-story window but was captured by police after fighting with officers outside. Thankfully, no serious injuries were reported for Falcon or the children, and the fire was swiftly contained by the Grand Forks Fire Department.
