GRAND FORKS COUNTY (trfnews.i234.me) – A Hatton woman suffered serious injuries Friday morning after her vehicle struck a semi on ND Highway 15 near mile marker 122.
The North Dakota Highway Patrol says the crash happened around 7:52 a.m. on August 15, 2025. A 2014 Nissan Juke, driven by 50-year-old Therese Dudley of Hatton, was following a 2013 Peterbilt semi towing a gravel trailer.
The semi, driven by 71-year-old Robert Warnke of Hatton, began turning right onto County Road 13 (22nd Street NE). Investigators say Dudley tried to avoid the truck by steering right. Her vehicle left the roadway, then overcorrected to the left, colliding with the trailer of the semi.
Authorities confirmed Dudley was not wearing a seat belt at the time. She was taken by Northwood Deaconess Health Center Ambulance to Altru Hospital in Grand Forks with serious injuries.
Warnke, who was wearing his seat belt, was not injured.
The North Dakota Highway Patrol cited Dudley for failure to maintain lane and failure to maintain control, noting distracted driving as a factor.
Road and weather conditions were both reported as good at the time of the crash.
Multiple agencies responded, including the Grand Forks Sheriff’s Office, Northwood Fire & Rescue, and Northwood Deaconess Health Center Ambulance.
The crash remains under investigation by the North Dakota Highway Patrol. For more on traffic safety in the state, visit the North Dakota Highway Patrol website.
