Grand Forks County (trfnews.i234.me) — A wild and dangerous situation unfolded Friday night in Grand Forks when police received multiple 911 calls about a vehicle recklessly speeding through neighborhoods around 2200 8th Avenue North.
Shortly after 7:00 p.m., that same vehicle crashed into a vinyl fence at a residence near 2324 8th Avenue North, then fled the scene. Officers tracked the vehicle to the 1000 block of North Washington Street, but the suspect had already fled on foot.
Thanks to eyewitness accounts and assistance from the East Grand Forks Police Department, the suspect, 18-year-old Joshua Osland of East Grand Forks, was located and arrested near 54th Avenue Northeast.
Police say Osland not only drove erratically through multiple roadways, prompting numerous emergency calls, but also forcibly prevented a passenger from exiting the vehicle.
Osland now faces charges including felonious restraint, felony theft, reckless endangerment, and several misdemeanors. He is currently being held at the Grand Forks County Correctional Center.
Authorities have confirmed there are no ongoing threats to the public. The investigation remains active. Anyone with further information is urged to contact the Grand Forks Police Department.
