Grand Forks, North Dakota (TRFNews.i234.me) — A former North Dakota lawmaker has been sentenced to spend 10 years in prison for sexually abusing children. The sentencing began at 9:30 AM Wednesday and lasted nearly 7 hours. State attorneys called a special agent who has been leading the investigation, while two of Holmberg’s victims also gave victim impact statements.

Holmberg, who had been in custody for 145 days, was accused of soliciting teens attending Grand Forks Central High School and the University of North Dakota in exchange for money or hockey tickets. He pleaded guilty to a federal charge of “certain activities relating to material constituting or containing child pornography” and “traveling, or conspiring to do so, in interstate or foreign commerce for the purpose of engaging in any sexual act.”
