During the operation, underage participants entered local establishments and attempted to purchase alcohol. The youths presented their real identification and disclosed their age if asked. If a sale was denied, the business passed. If a sale was completed, an observing officer took enforcement action.
Out of 14 businesses checked, 13 passed. Those businesses include: Rite Spot on South Washington Street, Mexican Village, Denny’s Tavern, Lincoln Park Golf Course, Sin Bin Kitchen Bar Casino, Target Liquor, JL Beers, Kaspers Bar & Bottle Shop, Northside Cafe, Varsity Ice House, Kelly’s Bar, Brick & Barley Bar and Restaurant, and O’Really’s Pub.
Only one establishment, The TapRoom, failed the check. Police did not release further details on the violation but confirmed appropriate enforcement action was taken.
“Thank you to these businesses for your hard work on keeping underage people from getting access to alcoholic beverages,” the release said.
Alcohol compliance checks remain a key part of community policing efforts in Grand Forks, aimed at limiting youth access to alcohol and preventing related public safety issues.
