Grand Forks County (trfnews.i234.me) — A routine traffic stop turned into a chase in Grand Forks on Wednesday night.
Stop turns into a chase
Police said an officer tried to stop a 2010 Honda Ridgeline near South 10th Street.
The stop was attempted at about 8:15 p.m. on Feb. 25, 2026.
Police said the truck had equipment violations.
Police also said the registered owner’s license was revoked.
Authorities said the driver did not stop.
They said the truck fled through city streets.
The route included South 20th Street.
It also included Demers Avenue.
It also included South Washington Street.
PIT maneuver ends pursuit
The pursuit ended near Library Lane, police said.
A Grand Forks County Sheriff’s deputy used a PIT maneuver.
Police said the maneuver disabled the truck.
The stop happened in the 2000 block of Library Lane.


Standoff and tactical response
After the truck stopped, police reported a standoff.
They said the driver and passenger refused to exit.
Officers then used a high-risk vehicle stop.
Police said they deployed a Lenco BearCat.
The BearCat is an armored tactical vehicle.
Police also used less-lethal impact munitions.
Authorities said both people then surrendered.
No serious injuries were reported.
Police said several agencies assisted during the pursuit.
They did not release officer names.
Arrests and charges
Police identified the driver as John Allen Dubois, 33.
They said he faces several charges.
- Fleeing in a motor vehicle.
- Possession of a controlled substance.
- Reckless endangerment.
- Driving under suspension.
Police identified the passenger as Shania Charging Cloud, 27.
Police said she had outstanding warrants from South Dakota.
She was taken into custody after the stop.
A court case will decide the outcomes here.
