Grand Forks County, ND (trfnews.i234.me) — In a disturbing incident, 18-year-old Vanessa Nielsen from Grafton is facing serious criminal charges after allegedly driving under the influence and intentionally striking a juvenile girl with her vehicle in the early hours of May 3.
According to court documents, the incident occurred shortly after 1:00 AM. Nielsen had a blood alcohol content of 0.144%, nearly twice the legal limit. Witnesses captured the event on video, showing Nielsen hitting the girl and then fleeing the scene. The victim survived but sustained injuries resulting in a noticeable limp.
Nielsen has been charged in Grand Forks County Court with aggravated assault, DUI, and reckless endangerment. She is scheduled to appear in court on June 16.
