Goodridge Woman Charged In Meth DWI Case
East Grand Forks (trfnews.i234.me) — A Goodridge woman is facing felony and misdemeanor charges in Polk County District Court.
Kristine Kay Grindeland, 58, has been charged in a case filed in Minnesota’s Ninth Judicial District.
The complaint charges Grindeland with third-degree controlled substance crime.
Prosecutors allege she possessed methamphetamine in a prohibited zone in East Grand Forks.
The charge is listed as a felony under Minnesota Statute 152.023.
The complaint says the alleged possession happened near Lafave Park and Sacred Heart School.
Court documents say the area was within 300 feet or one city block of those zones.
Traffic Stop Led To Arrest
According to the complaint, an East Grand Forks officer stopped a green Dodge Durango.
The stop happened near County Road 17 and U.S. Highway 2.
The complaint says the vehicle had two lights that were not working.
Grindeland was identified as the driver.
Court documents say she did not have a valid driver’s license.
The complaint says officers noted signs of possible impairment.
Those signs included rapid speech, fidgeting, sweating, and unusual eye movement.
Meth Allegedly Found In Vehicle
The complaint says Grindeland later admitted using methamphetamine earlier that day.
She was arrested on suspicion of driving while impaired.
Officers then searched the vehicle with consent, according to the complaint.
During the search, officers allegedly found a white crystal substance.
The substance was wrapped in plastic inside a gray purse.
It was located on the front passenger floorboard.
The complaint says the substance tested positive for methamphetamine.
Grindeland also provided a urine sample.
Court documents say that the sample tested positive for methamphetamine.
DWI Charge Also Filed
Grindeland is also charged with fourth-degree driving while impaired.
The charge alleges she drove with methamphetamine or its metabolite in her body.
That charge is listed under Minnesota Statute 169A.20 and Minnesota Statute 169A.27.
The felony drug charge carries a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison.
It also carries a possible $250,000 fine.
The misdemeanor DWI charge carries up to 90 days in jail.
It also carries a possible $1,000 fine.
A criminal complaint is only an allegation.
Grindeland is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
