Goodridge Man Charged In 0.17 DWI Case

Goodridge (trfnews.i234.me) — A Goodridge man is facing criminal charges after authorities say he tried to drive through a blocked crash scene in Pennington County.

Larry Joseph Hruby, 74, has been charged in Pennington County District Court with third-degree driving while impaired. He is also charged with driving without a valid license.

The case was filed in Minnesota’s Ninth Judicial District under court file number 57-CR-26-297.

The complaint says the incident happened at about 9:05 p.m. on April 24, 2026.

Authorities were already at a crash scene near 180th Street Northeast and 280th Avenue Northeast.

According to the complaint, Hruby tried to drive through the blocked intersection.

He allegedly told authorities he wanted to drive around squad cars to get home.

Court documents say officers noticed signs of possible impairment during the stop.

Those signs allegedly included the smell of alcohol, slurred speech, glossy eyes, and confusion.

Breath Test Result Listed

The complaint states Hruby admitted drinking in Goodridge earlier that day.

He allegedly told authorities he had consumed five or six beers.

Authorities attempted a field sobriety test, according to the complaint.

The complaint says Hruby struggled during the test and nearly fell while getting into position.

He was then arrested and taken to the Pennington County Jail.

At the jail, authorities read Hruby the breath test advisory.

The complaint says Hruby stated he understood the advisory.

He also said he did not wish to speak with an attorney.

A breath sample was later collected within two hours of driving.

The result was listed in the complaint as 0.17.

The complaint also alleges Hruby did not have a valid Minnesota driver’s license.

Authorities reported that his license status was listed as ID only.

Third-degree DWI is listed as a gross misdemeanor in the complaint.

The charge carries a maximum sentence of 364 days in jail.

It also carries a maximum fine of $3,000, or both.

The driving without a valid license charge is listed as a misdemeanor.

That charge carries a maximum sentence of 90 days in jail.

It also carries a maximum fine of $1,000, or both.

A criminal complaint is not a conviction.

Hruby is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
