St. Paul – Gail Margaret Tischler passed away on October 5, 2026, at the age of 76, following a ten-year battle with endometrial cancer.
Gail was born on a snowy March 3, 1950, in Faribault to Robert and Adelaide (Winkel) Tischler. Weather would often disrupt her birthday celebrations for years to come. One of her favorite childhood memories was sneaking away from household chores with a book and sitting under a tree at the edge of Faribault’s Brand Peony Farms, which the family owned. In school, she was active in band and chorus, and excelled academically, finishing as valedictorian of Faribault’s Class of 1968. With her mother’s influence, Gail developed outstanding sewing skills and expertise in the care of clothing. She enrolled at the University of Minnesota as a textiles major, but it was a minor in journalism that fueled a long career in communications and marketing with University of Minnesota Extension. In later years, she put her skills and flair for writing to work for the nonprofit Twin Cities Bungalow Club.
On May 3, 1997, she married Martin Moen, and together they enjoyed traveling, browsing local antiques shops, and filling their home with treasures. Finding local restaurants with great ambiance and amazing food was another passion. She loved knitting clothing for the great-nieces and nephews and greatly missed her knitting group these past years. Gail also dabbled in jewelry making and beading crafts.
Gail is survived by her husband, Martin; her sister, Kay Tischler of Thief River Falls; nieces and nephew, Alicia Denman of Coralville, IA; Elizabeth Erickson-Bottem (Cody) of Thief River Falls; Roberta Sagstuen (Ryan) of Newfolden; Ben Erickson of Thief River Falls; in-laws, Diane and Jeff Nast of Duluth; and nephews-in-law Andy Nast (Emily) of Duluth, and Ted Nast (Miranda) of Luck, WI. She is also survived by great-nieces and nephews, Jace, Norah, Matilda, Emily, Callan, Ellie, Rylie, and Anders.
Gail was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Addie Tischler; and nephew-in-law Justin Denman.
Gail was also sustained by the loving embrace of numerous cousins, friends, classmates, and work colleagues during her long cancer fight. Memorials are preferred to the New Horizons Gynecologic Cancer Research Fund and should specify Endometrial Cancer Research.
Visitation will be held at the Boldt Funeral Home in Faribault on Friday, October 16 from 4-7 p.m. A private service and interment at Maple Lawn Cemetery will be held for family.
