PENNINGTON COUNTY, MN. — A Fosston woman, Michelle Jean Laird, was sentenced to 107 months in prison on Tuesday, Sept. 10, for selling approximately 17 grams of methamphetamine to a Pennington County informant. Laird, 52, originally scheduled for an initial court appearance, pleaded guilty to felony first-degree sale of a controlled substance.
This is Laird’s second or subsequent conviction for similar offenses, which subjected her to harsher penalties under Minnesota law. She has already served 215 days in custody, which will be credited toward her sentence. Laird will serve her time at the Minnesota Correctional Facility in Shakopee.
Her sentence will run concurrently with a separate Polk County case, where she was convicted of driving under the influence and possessing a controlled substance.
