Fosston Man Charged with High BAC After Truck Crash
FOSSTON, Minn. (trfnews.i234.me) — A Fosston man is facing gross misdemeanor DWI charges after allegedly rolling his pickup truck in a rural field and recording a high blood alcohol level.
According to court documents, Ryler Broc Johnson, 32, was charged in Polk County District Court with two counts of second-degree driving while impaired — one for having a blood alcohol concentration of 0.08 or higher and another for driving under the influence of alcohol. Both charges carry a maximum penalty of 364 days in jail and a $3,000 fine.
On October 22, 2025, the Polk County Sheriff’s Office responded to a crash near the intersection of 340th Street SE and 350th Avenue SE after an Apple device recorded a vehicle impact. Deputies arrived to find a Ford F-150 overturned in a field. A witness told deputies he helped pull the driver, identified as Johnson, from the vehicle and gave him a ride home.
Deputies later found Johnson at his residence. They said he appeared intoxicated, with bloodshot eyes and the odor of alcohol. A field breath test reportedly showed a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) of 0.216. Johnson later took a formal breath test that measured 0.17, well above the legal limit of 0.08.
Johnson admitted to drinking several beers the night before but claimed his last drink was around 6:30 p.m. He declined medical treatment at the scene. Court records show Johnson was previously convicted of third-degree DWI in 2017, also in Polk County.
If convicted, Johnson could face significant penalties, including jail time, fines, and license revocation. The case remains active in Polk County District Court.
