Fosston: Man Charged After 90 MPH Trooper Chase

Fosston, Minnesota (trfnews.i234.me)  – Christopher Michael Roragen, of Fosston, is charged with three felonies after a pursuit. Court records say he fled a traffic stop on Feb. 20. A state trooper tried to stop his vehicle near Fosston. Roragen allegedly sped away. Records say speeds reached about 90 mph.

What court records allege

The trooper followed on local roads and highways. The trooper reported lights and siren were on. The pursuit lasted several miles. Records say Roragen drove in a way that risked other drivers. The pursuit was later called off for safety.

Court documents also describe a crash claim. They say Roragen intentionally sideswiped the trooper’s squad car. Prosecutors describe the vehicle as a dangerous weapon. The squad car was damaged, according to the filing.

Arrest and charges

After the pursuit ended, investigators worked to find the driver. Roragen was later arrested at a family member’s home in Fosston. Court records say officers confirmed his identity. He was then taken into custody.

He now faces three felony counts. One count alleges fleeing a peace officer in a motor vehicle. Another alleges assault with a dangerous weapon, described as the vehicle. A third alleges first-degree damage to property, court records say.

Readers can review Minnesota statutes online. The fleeing law is posted at Minn. Stat. § 609.487. The assault with a dangerous weapon law is posted at Minn. Stat. § 609.222. The criminal damage to property law is posted at Minn. Stat. § 609.595.
