Rochester, Minnesota (trfnews.i234.me) — In a startling development, Jessica Lynn Larson, 37, a former nurse at the Federal Medical Center (FMC) in Rochester, has been indicted on charges of abusive sexual conduct with an inmate and making false statements to federal law enforcement authorities.
Details of the Allegations
According to court documents, Larson, employed by the Bureau of Prisons (BOP) at FMC Rochester, initiated a romantic relationship with an inmate identified as Victim A. The relationship involved the exchange of sexually explicit letters and culminated in a sexual encounter in a shower room on April 3, 2024.
Discovery and Subsequent Actions
The illicit relationship came to light when fellow nursing staff reported suspicions, leading to a search of Victim A’s cell. Investigators uncovered letters from Larson concealed within the cell and additional correspondence from the inmate found in Larson’s backpack. In an attempt to conceal her actions, Larson allegedly filed a false report accusing Victim A of sexual assault and claimed he had threatened her children. Prosecutors assert that these allegations were fabricated.
Further Attempts to Contact the Inmate
Despite being placed on administrative leave following the discovery, Larson reportedly traveled over 600 miles from her residence in Iowa to Ohio two months later. There, she sent a letter to Victim A, who had been transferred to another federal facility. U.S. Department of Justice
Official Statements
Acting United States Attorney Lisa D. Kirkpatrick emphasized the gravity of the charges, highlighting the abuse of authority and the seriousness of making false statements to federal investigators. She stated, “In Minnesota, we take sexual abuse—particularly when committed by those in positions of authority—very seriously.” Kirkpatrick further noted that her office will continue to “aggressively prosecute defendants who commit these crimes.”
Legal Proceedings
Larson is scheduled to make her initial appearance in United States District Court on April 9, 2025.
