FERGUS FALLS, MN (trfnews.i234.me) – A Florida woman, Nadia Islam from Miramar, is facing charges of Theft by Swindle in Fergus Falls, Minnesota, after allegedly scamming a local resident out of $20,000. According to court documents, the incident began on August 13th when the victim’s computer froze, prompting them to call a purported Microsoft support number.
After the initial call, the victim received another call from someone claiming to be from Microsoft, who instructed the victim to allow remote access to their computer. The scammer then convinced the victim that they owed $44,000 and advised them to withdraw $22,000 from the bank, claiming it was for home improvement purposes.
A male accomplice collected the money from the victim’s home, and the scammers arranged another meeting for August 14th to collect an additional $20,000. When Nadia Islam arrived at the victim’s residence to collect the money, she was arrested by the Fergus Falls Police Department and is now being held in the Otter Tail County Jail.
