FERGUS FALLS, MN (trfnews.i234.me) – Jeffrey L. Defries, a 55-year-old resident of rural Fergus Falls, Minnesota, faces felony assault charges after allegedly shooting at a delivery driver on July 24, 2024. According to the probable cause statement, the incident occurred at around 1:50 p.m. on County Highway 15. The delivery driver, an African American male, was delivering a wheelbarrow and topsoil when he encountered Defries.
Defries reportedly told the driver to leave, and as the driver walked back to his vehicle, he heard three gunshots. The driver and his passenger confirmed the account. Defries was found at his residence, where he claimed he shot at rabbits after the driver left. However, officers found only shell casings and no dead rabbits. Defries has been charged with second-degree assault and is being held at the Otter Tail County Detention Center
