Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN (trfnews.i234.me)—On Thursday, January 10, 2025, at approximately 10:30 p.m., Minneapolis police responded to reports of gunfire at an apartment building located on the 1100 block of James Avenue North.
Upon arrival, officers discovered a 43-year-old male victim inside the building. The individual was pronounced deceased at the scene. Preliminary investigations indicate that the victim was inside the apartment when an unknown assailant fired shots at him. The suspect fled the scene prior to police arrival, and no arrests have been made at this time.
A chaplain was requested to provide support to family members present at the location. It was reported that several children were upstairs in the residence during the incident; they were unharmed.
Investigators are actively working to determine the circumstances leading up to the shooting. Forensic teams have processed the scene for evidence. Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara stated, “Our investigators are fully dedicated to bringing justice to the victim and providing answers to his family. We strongly encourage anyone with information about this tragic incident to come forward.”
The Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the victim as Rico Ronondo Rodriguez.
