POLK COUNTY, Minn. (trfnews.i234.me) — On December 26, 2024, 39-year-old Fargo resident Dyllan Matthew Peltier received a stayed 27-month prison sentence for third-degree drug possession in a designated prohibited zone in Polk County, Minnesota. This sentencing follows his Alford plea on December 12, where he maintained his innocence but acknowledged sufficient evidence for a conviction.
Initially, Peltier faced charges of conspiracy to commit a first-degree controlled substance sale and third-degree sale of a controlled substance. As part of a plea agreement, the first-degree charge was dismissed, and the third-degree charge was amended to possession.
The charges stem from an early 2022 incident where authorities found Peltier in possession of approximately 17.2 grams of methamphetamine and related paraphernalia. He was also suspected of distributing at least 28 grams to another individual. At the time, Peltier was detained in North Dakota on unrelated charges, delaying proceedings in this case until August 2024.
Under the terms of his sentencing, Peltier will undergo five years of supervised probation. Any violations during this period could result in the activation of the 27-month prison sentence. Probation conditions include completing a comprehensive assessment and avoiding contact with co-defendants. Additionally, Peltier was sentenced to 120 days in the local jail, a term he has already served.
