Fargo Police Identify Two Men Found Dead in Apartment

FARGO, ND (trfnews.i234.me) – Fargo police have publicly identified two men who were found dead inside a south Fargo apartment in September after officers responded to a welfare check requested by a concerned family member.

According to the Fargo Police Department, the deceased men were identified as Thomas William Mausbach, 79, and Huanan Tao, 40, both of Fargo.

Police confirmed the two men lived together in an apartment in the 3100 block of 44th Street South.

Family Member Requested Welfare Check

The investigation began after a family member contacted authorities because they had been unable to reach a relative living at the apartment since late August.

Officers responded to the residence on September 22 to check on the occupants.

With assistance from the Fargo Fire Department, police gained entry into the apartment at approximately 2:40 p.m.

Once inside, emergency responders discovered both Mausbach and Tao deceased.

The information released by police did not specify how long the men had been dead before they were discovered.

Police Explain Delay in Releasing Identities

Although the deaths were discovered in September, Fargo police did not immediately release the men’s identities publicly.

According to the department, investigators experienced difficulties locating and notifying Tao’s next of kin, who live outside the United States.

Police said the challenges associated with making that notification delayed the public identification of the deceased men.

Authorities have now identified both individuals.
