Colorado County, TX (trfnews.i234.me) – Former Colorado county clerk Tina Peters has been sentenced to nine years in prison for tampering with voting machines in an attempt to support false claims of voter fraud in the 2020 U.S. presidential election. Peters was convicted on seven counts related to the security breach that gave unauthorized access to Mesa County’s election data.
During the sentencing, Judge Matthew Barrett condemned Peters for her actions, calling her a “charlatan” who abused her public office and undermined public trust. “You are no hero,” the judge said, accusing Peters of using her position to spread baseless conspiracy theories.
Peters, a known supporter of Donald Trump’s election fraud claims, was defiant throughout the hearing, maintaining that she acted in the interests of the people. However, the court rejected her request for probation, citing the seriousness of her offenses.
