east grand forks placed second in the voting in the craft hockeyville competition bringing home thirty thousand dollars to be used for upgrades and ten thousand dollars in hockey equipment the smallest town of the four finalists uh population 8600 east grand forks competed against el paso texas population 682 000 in wichita kansas population 389 000 and river falls wisconsin 15 000 population in the final phase which is fan voting where the mantra is vote uh early and vote often there was no limitations on the number of times an individual could vote twitter and facebook came alive on saturday as the town and surrounding communities all encouraged everyone to vote for the civic center as they tried to bring home the grand prize of 150 000 in rink renovations which when the dust cleared was awarded to el paso texas it was a great community effort and it was great to see everyone get behind us and the stories about rink memories that came out says east grand forks recreation coordinator uh mark dragach according to the official rules east grand forks will not be eligible to enter the contest for the next six years i’m Neil Berg reporting for pageonepublications.com
