Polk County (trfnews.i234.me) – A 19-year-old Grand Forks man is facing felony charges after leading East Grand Forks Police on a dangerous, high-speed chase across state lines and later admitting to the crime.
On April 13, 2025, EGFPD Cpl. Ryan Douglas heard a motorcycle roaring down Highway 2 NW. The rider, later identified as Seth Brody Fontaine, was spotted at a red light—his bike had no license plate. When Douglas activated his lights and siren, Fontaine fled westbound on Demers Avenue, eventually weaving into Grand Forks, ND, at recklessly high speeds, forcing the officer to terminate the pursuit due to pedestrian risk.
The BMW S1000 RR—a rare bike in the area—was traced back to Fontaine through state registration and a matching helmet spotted in a Facebook reel. His father confirmed the bike was Seth’s and kept at his mother’s residence. When contacted, Fontaine voluntarily came to EGFPD and confessed, saying he fled because he had no insurance and feared rate hikes.
He was not arrested at the time, but the motorcycle was seized as evidence.
