POLK COUNTY, MN (trfnews.i234.me)—Brian Lee Espinoza, a 33-year-old resident of East Grand Forks, is currently detained on a $100,000 cash or surety bond. He faces three counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct, each carrying a maximum sentence of 30 years in prison and a mandatory minimum of 12 years.
According to the statement of probable cause, law enforcement was alerted by a third party who suspected that Espinoza had been physically and sexually assaulting a juvenile female. On January 3, the girl reported to authorities that the assaults had been ongoing for years, with the most recent incident occurring that morning.
Espinoza was arrested and booked into the Northwest Regional Corrections Center on January 8. He has been assigned a public defender, and an omnibus hearing is scheduled for 9 a.m. on February 13.
If released on bond, Espinoza is prohibited from contacting the girl or approaching within 300 feet of her residence.
