East Grand Forks Man Sentenced in Drug, Gun Case
Polk County ( trfnews.i234.me ) – An East Grand Forks man will spend several years in prison after a plea agreement resolved multiple felony cases in Polk County.
According to court records, Terimal Dion Singleton, 52, pleaded guilty to two felony counts — one for firearm possession and one for drug possession — along with a misdemeanor for operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of an illegal drug.
As part of the plea deal, a third-degree controlled substance sale charge was dismissed. That charge accused Singleton of selling four suspected fentanyl pills to a confidential informant for $120 in August 2023, according to court documents.
On October 16, Singleton was sentenced to five years in prison with the Minnesota Department of Corrections in St. Cloud. The court also granted him 259 days of credit for time already served in custody.
If Singleton had been convicted of the dismissed drug sale charge, he could have faced up to 20 years in prison. However, Minnesota state sentencing guidelines suggest a range of 21 to 68 months for that type of offense, depending on a defendant’s criminal history.
