East Grand Forks (trfnews.i234.me) — An East Grand Forks man is facing two gross misdemeanor charges after a Polk County complaint said he gave alcohol to a 16-year-old girl.
According to the criminal complaint, Derrick Walker was charged in Minnesota District Court in Polk County. The charges are furnishing alcohol to a person under 21 and contributing to the delinquency of a child.
What the complaint says
The complaint said officers were sent to an apartment on 8th Avenue Northwest in East Grand Forks on January 3, 2026. The call was for a domestic dispute.
When officers arrived, they found Walker and a 16-year-old girl, identified in court records as C.F., arguing inside the apartment. The complaint said both smelled like alcohol.
Walker told police that both had been drinking that night. He also said the girl wanted a ride home to Lakota, North Dakota, but he could not afford one, according to the complaint.
The girl later told police they had been drinking all night. A preliminary breath test showed a blood alcohol level of .157, according to the court filing.
Charges filed in Polk County
Prosecutors charged Walker with violating Minnesota Statute 340A.503, which covers furnishing alcohol to a person under 21.
He was also charged under Minnesota Statute 260B.425, which covers contributing to the delinquency of a child.
Both charges are listed as gross misdemeanors. Each count carries a maximum penalty of 364 days in jail, a $3,000 fine, or both, according to the complaint.
Case remains an allegation
The complaint said the girl was later cited for minor consumption. Her father was contacted, and she was released to an adult acquaintance.
As with all criminal cases, the charges against Walker are only allegations unless proven in court.
The case was filed in the Ninth Judicial District in Polk County. Court records list the file number as 60-CR-26-154.
