Polk County, MN (trfnews.i234.me) – A Grand Forks man is facing serious charges after being discovered passed out behind the wheel of a truck with a rifle and meth in East Grand Forks, Minnesota.
Ryan Wade Thompson, 48, was charged in Polk County District Court with:
-
Felony: Felon in Possession of a Firearm
-
Misdemeanor: Driving While Impaired (Meth)
According to court documents, on May 28, 2025, East Grand Forks Police found Thompson slumped over the wheel of a Ford F-150 outside East Side Express. Officers recovered a .22 caliber Marlin rifle, two boxes of ammunition, and multiple spent shell casings inside the vehicle.
Thompson, a convicted felon barred from owning firearms due to a 2018 drug conviction, allegedly showed clear signs of drug impairment. A urine test later came back positive for methamphetamine and THC.
He also refused field sobriety tests at the scene and was arrested on the spot. Officers reported signs of heavy drug use, including rotten teeth, slurred speech, and glossy eyes.
