East Grand Forks, Minn. (trfnews.i234.me) — Blizzard conditions slowed crews responding to a garage fire northeast of East Grand Forks on Sunday.
The East Grand Forks Fire Department was dispatched to 13926 410th Ave. SW.
Firefighters found a detached garage that was about 20 feet by 40 feet.
Heavy smoke was pushing from the eaves when crews arrived.
Firefighters started an aggressive attack right away.
The fire was reported under control within about 15 minutes of arrival.
Response
Assistant Fire Chief Paul Hansen said the department responded with two engines.
A water tender was also sent to the scene.
Hansen said a total of 29 personnel were involved.
Altru Ambulance provided medical support.
The Polk County Sheriff’s Office assisted at the scene.

Damage estimate
Hansen said parts of the garage had significant fire damage.
Smoke damage was found throughout the building.
The estimated loss was about $30,000, he said.
That estimate included the structure and its contents.
No injuries were reported.
Cause ruled electrical
Hansen said the cause was electrical in nature.
Investigators said the issue ignited nearby items that could burn.
The fire department did not release a specific source of the electrical failure.
Officials also did not report any nearby structures damaged.
The weather slowed travel
